The agribusiness specializes in the research, development and production of agricultural products aimed at boosting crop performance. Those products include herbicides and other pesticides.
Syngenta also develops seed traits and sells seeds.
Starting in 2015, Syngenta has often been rumored to be the target of a handful of takeover attempts. Syngenta reportedly rejected one takeover bid upwards of $45 billion from Monsanto, along with another takeover bid of roughly $42 billion from a Chinese chemical company.
Syngenta was founded in 1999.
